Oregon Department of Forestry will move the Fire Danger Level to EXTREME (Red) on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023. Starker Forests gates are closed. While we are at this level, campfires are prohibited throughout the district (never allowed in Starker Forests). Mowing well irrigated, green grass lawns is still allowed. Electric or battery powered equipment can still be used.
2025 Fire Season Over
Oregon Department of Forestry declared the West Oregon fire season is over as of Oct. 10, 2025. All gates that will open for the 2025 hunting season will be open by Oct. 17.
